Show Cards:
Each entry must have a white 3”x5” index card for BREED and a colored 3"x5" index card for COLLECTIBILITY. If you do not have 3”x5” index cards, please ask the showholder for some prior to the beginning of the show.
On the front of the card, print clearly or type the class number, breed and gender. On the backside, clearly print or type your name and the models name.
Entries without Entry Cards will be disqualified; 3”x5” cards are necessary for the show results. You may have a foot tag on your model for ID purposes, but for security purposes, please make sure that the only info in view is the gender and breed of the model.
Documentation:
Documentation for your horses is welcomed, especially in the cases of unusual breeds, colors, or coat patterns. Please don’t assume the judges know everything there is to know about every breed and color. As a courtesy to other showers, please limit the size of your documentation to a maximum of 8-1/2 x 11 inches.
Documentation for Collectibility is a must.
Judging Criteria:
Breed: Models in the breed classes will be judged on the ABC's - anatomically, biomechanics and conformation. Also taken in consideration is the correct color for that breed/registry and workmanship of the model (ex. seams, overspray and surface finishing).
Collectibility: Models will be judged on their condition and rarity. Showers are encouraged to provide as much information on each model as they can on an additional 3X5 card. It is unlikely that a collectibility judge knows every possible release, much less all the variations, so it is good to inform or remind the judge by providing documentation. At a minimum, the documentation should identify: Manufacturer (e.g., Breyer, Stone, and Hagen Renaker), Mold name/identification, Model name/identification, Description, Variation (if any). Optionally, the judge would appreciate you also including things like Production date(s), Edition size/limitation, and any other comments you feel the judge should know.
Workmanship: Models in the workmanship classes will be judged on the sculpting, repainting, re-hairing, condition and overall eye-appeal.
Finish:
Original Finish – is defined as any model that is mass-produced at a factory (i.e. Breyer, Stone, Hartland) and has not been altered in any way after leaving the factory. This includes but is not limited to the use of spray polish, applying black polish to hooves, or adding a glossy finish to a matte model. Touch-ups are permitted if not obvious.
Custom Models – are defined as any model that has been changed from its original form in any media. These classes also include models made by hand. (Drastic custom with show in the division.)
Artist Resins – are defined as any model, regardless of number in run, which has been home or professionally cast. Original Sculptures also qualify for the resin division. Resins that have been altered after casting still enter the resin classes. (ex. new mane and tails, limbs moved, ears changed, etc.)
OF China – any factory produced china, porcelain, cold-cast porcelain, or resin models show in the china division. This includes Hagen –Renaker, Horsing Around, OF Breyer porcelains, Animal Artistry, Alchemy, Pour Horse, etc.
CM Glazed China - any china horse that has been altered from its original finish by firing a permanent glaze onto the horse, or uniquely glazed by the factory, sculptor or another artist in a color not released in a regular edition. Cold-painted china horses belong in the Custom division.
This show is a pending for NAN. North American Nationals is a show in which the 1st and 2nd place horses in all breed, collectibility, and color classes will receive a Green and/or Yellow NAN card and be eligible to show at NAMHSA's national championship show.
